SYLAS!!!
Sylas is my friend, my little buddy. I love that I have someone to spend my days with. I love that I have someone to go to stores with and get advice from. "What do you think Sylas, which buttons should mommy buy?"
I love that he is an independent little soul. I love his "MY do it!" (He never ever says "I" it's always "my.") Hoping he figures "I" out someday.
I love that he has his own sense of style. Right now he is going through a faze of wearing one winter glove. Just one. On occasion he will still do the arm-up-through-neck-hole trick when his shirt gets wet. And his underwear is proudly worn backwards. Every. Single. Day. I let him run wild with his creative dressing, but usually draw the line when he tries to wear two different kinds of shoes.
I love that he tackles his brothers and usually comes out victor. He is very good at giving the stink eye, and he makes sure you know when he is displeased with you. He doesn't like it when people he doesn't know talk to him, and I am learning it is because he is shy.
I love his animation when he discovers new things. I showed him the other day how to pull his coat sleeve right side out. His eyebrows rose and his eyes lit up at learning something new. I told him today that at his next birthday he will be 4. He was so excited he talked about it the whole way home.
I love that he replaces the beginning of most words with an F sound. "Mom can I have some fopforn?" (popcorn), "Mom, can I fatch (watch) Fimmy Futon?" (Jimmy Neutron) Also it makes for interesting trips at the store. "Look mom, a Fire *uck!" Here's one from today at Hobby Lobby, "Mom are we going to buy some *uck tape?" (duck tape). Right now I think it is adorable and I giggle every time, but I am sure it won't be cute in a year or so. I am hoping he will grow out of it.
When Sylas was born 3.5 years ago, my life became instantly more difficult, challenging, and perplexing. Like every baby does, he threw me off my groove and a put a kink in my grip on life. And I would do it again and again just to have him in our family. I love you little guy, thanks for rocking my world...
