Giant orb spider

So here is a nasty story for you: At the DC Zoo we were walking along thru the reptile house (maybe it was the amphibian house?) and near the end of it I sat down on a ledge to rest a moment. Lohn walks up and says, "You are sitting under the spiders?!" I stand and look behind me and see the biggest nastiest spider ever. Obviously fake, or so I thought. I told Lohn, quite superiorly with a small roll of my eyes, that it wasn't real. Lohn insisted it was, but I said, then why isn't it in a cage? I looked closely at the spider webs, which looked real, and then I blew at the spider. The creepy thing MOVED! I couldn't believe I was sitting right under it, and who knows how many more spiders were behind me. I was quick to get out of there after that. My father in law took this picture. It was the size of my hand. Ewww! And will someone please tell me why they have spiders running loose, uncaged at their zoo????

Tamsyn's baptism

Oh, We had a GREAT time! We woke up Wednesday morning, left by 6, It took us 10 hours to drive to DC (actually Purcelville) and got there at 4. The kids were great travelers, except for the all too frequent "I have to go potty again!" Thursday we had Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa McKee and Grandma Johnson and Aunt and Uncle Berringer and their kids and also Elle and Emily. It was a blast and the kids loved being with their cousins (we barely saw them!). Friday we went to the DC zoo (that was ultra awesome, best zoo yet!) My favorite was the orangutan crossing (crossing on ropes thirty feet above our heads across the zoo!) and my least favorite was the uncaged giant orb spiders. At the zoo Ander started complaining of an earache and it was really cold, and he was in a lot of pain. I knew exactly where I left his medicine and knew I didn't have it with me. Well, a still small voice whispered to Lohn that morning to put it in the diaper bag, and I was so grateful! I think the Lord loves Ander and wanted him to enjoy his time at the zoo. It just took a couple of childrens ibuprofen and he was enjoying his time there. After that we went and looked at some of the sights at DC. I only wished we could have seen more, what a special place! It is so beautiful and it has quite a spirit to it! Saturday Lohn and I picked up My mom and dad and spent our day visiting and preparing for the baptism of Tamsyn and cousin Kyle. We had the baptism at 4, there were a total of 5 kids being baptized! But I didn't think it took away any of the special spirit at all. (And I refused to be one of those moms who insisted their kid had their own special baptism and cause all sorts of problems!) It was beautiful! Lohn almost baptized her for the dead, but started over and did it right. It was an amazing hour, day, week! I was so grateful for all of our family who could be there and for the wonderful spirit we felt!

Pac-Man

This is a game that Lohn calls Real Life Pac-Man. The vacuum tries to gobble up all the crumbs off the floor before the glob attacks the vacuum. It is very difficult to get much done with my little man awake.

Mona Lisa

Here is our newest addition to our wall. No worries, it isn't permanent! Our library lets their patrons take home famous framed prints for 3 weeks. I thought, why not? So I quiz my children every day on the name of this painting and the artist (Davinci!) Next I plan on bringing home a Monet.

ND Band

It is a beautiful 55 degrees here, sun is out, and so I walked the kids to campus to go to the tailgate. Afterwards we watched the band on their way to the game. The kids love it!

Tamsyn's 8th Birthday

My sweet baby is now 8! We had a small little family party, we invited our upstairs neighbors, and then after our small party, she went to the N.D. Basketball game with daddy, and of course the highlight of the night was the slushy Dad bought her! She gets another birthday party today after school with all her friends.

Mastitis

So I have Mastitis! I woke up sick Saturday night, started drugs Sunday, Puked my guts out Sunday night and today I made it back into the doctor begging for different drugs that didn't make me so sick. The crackpot doctor I saw said that first he would try some different antibiotics and if that doesn't work, then he will admit me into the hospital. I said "No you won't!" I have had mastitis 9 times, and have never had a doctor say that to me before. Weirdo.... also I highly suspect this is the first time he has seen boobs and ever heard of mastitis, and he sent me to Martins the grocery store, he said my perscriptions will be cheaper there, only to find out that Martins doesn't have a pharmacy. Once again I say, WEIRDO!

Alone time with daddy

Lohn has been taking the kids to games one at a time, so they can have some special time with him. The highlight of the basketball games for them so far is the giant slushy Lohn buys them. Tamsyn gets to go Monday night for her birthday.

Sylas's new sounds

He is getting to be so much fun! And tonight, we believe he said Dada for the first time. That is three words now. Mama, Uh-oh and Dada

Cute things my kids say...

Gunnar: "Look mom its a broken one!" (while pointing to the half moon)
"It's a happy day mom!" (he was super excited the sun was out)

Ander: "Want to see me do the monkey bars?"
"Want to see how wide I can open my mouth?"
"Want to see me touch my tongue to my nose?" (typical boy right?)

Tamsyn: Everything she says is funny cause she has started talking like a teenager, with all the drama, and I am forced to keep a straight face through it all

Sylas: "Uh-oh!" and he says it appropriately, and also I might add that he stood up to the couch today and let go!

I am so grateful for my beautiful children who keep me laughing and smiling! This world is a better place because they are in it!

Seinfeld

12th Annual Mark Twain Twain Prize
Lohn got us tickets to go see Seinfeld live for our 10 year anniversary! He is coming here, Dec. 18th, to S.B. and we are excited! Anyone want to come and babysit 4 adorable children???

Quilts

So here are our first five quilts. I dropped them off at the homeless shelter on Saturday and I have been told that they already passed them out. I talked to Nathan, the rector here, and he has agreed to supply more money, so now we can do 2 quilts a week!
