The Village Quilts!

The Village Rector asked if our quilting group would, in addition to our homeless shelter quilts, make some quilts to go on the guest apartment beds. There will be 10 in all and here are the first two.Our Queen sized Patriotic quilt
Our twin sized Spring quilt
And my favorite part! Naomi made these with her fancy machine. So happy us ladies are leaving our mark on Notre Dame!

Funeral, Bonfire, and SMORES!

So Tamsyn and Catherine's pet toad died. Lohn and I and the Village kids were invited to attend the funeral. Tamsyn gave a very moving speech!
Here is the casket. Please note the name of the Toad and the cause of death.
We had a bonfire for Graduation weekend. Congrats to all our friends who graduated!
Gunnar just ate the chocolate out of his and gave me the rest.
I think Ander ate 3 smores, 2 chocolate bars, countless Marshmellows and several grahams.
Never, NEVER give a 16 month old a marshmellow. I missed the picture before he got wet-wiped.

Last of the quilts for this (academic) Year!

I believe there were 46 in all!

It must be his dreamy eyes...

So I helped out at Ander's school today. As I was getting ready to leave, little Rebecca stopped me. Here is our conversation. Rebecca: "Anders mom, I tried to sing Ander a song on the bus and he wouldn't let me and I got SO angry at him and told him he wasn't my friend anymore! And I think he lied, he ISN'T in love with me!" (add emphatic arms in motion from little girl into your mental imagery.) Me: "Well, I think perhaps Ander is too little to be in love." Rebecca: "BUT WE'RE SIX YEARS OLD!!!" I was too stunned to know what to say next. I looked at Ander, and boy, did he look sheepish!

Ten Things I love about my dad...

I love how you have always shown your love for me
I love what a great photographer you have become
I love how you always took us on fun trips, i.e. Paraguay, yellowstone in the winter etc.
I love how hard working you are. You started with nothing and created a wonderful business. You have taught me to work.
I have always loved your sense of style! Remember the perms? And the mustache?
I love that you love my kids. You are always there when they are born to intercept some of their first smiles...
I love what a teaser you are. You gave me a sense of humor
You taught me how to be Christlike thru example
You also taught me that sometimes my teachers aren't always right, taught me critical thinking, and thus saved me from being the president of PETA or some environmental agency.
You are the bestest and sweetest dad and grandpa, and I LOVE YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
