If you look below, it's hard to see, but there are THOUSANDS of marshmallows being thrown around the stadium. (That's not snow folks)
When the game was over, everyone in the stands rushed onto the field. It was cooperate with the crowd, or die. And stampeded to death I nearly was. But Lohn was my strong steady man, and he held me up, and kept the hordes from overtaking us. It was really cool to be on the field though. See Video below... (I was super excited we won. And that I didn't die in the stampede. And it was time to go home. And that this was the last home game)
On our walk home, the bells were tolling at the Basilica, calling everyone to Mass. I thought the sound was beautiful and wanted to capture it on video, even if you can't see it.
So all in all, I am really glad I went. I had to stand on my feet on a six inch wide board, with people crammed all around me for 3.5 hours. The guy behind me was super drunk and I was terrified he was going to ralph all over me, or knock me off my six inch board. And even though I was surrounded by super intelligent people (This IS Notre Dame after all) all I heard was less than intelligent speech. LOTS of it. And did I add that it poured rain the first three quarters? Or that there were three people being lifted at the same time around me after a touchdown and I was beaten over the head by all the elbows that were doing the lifting? Or that I chewed out a drunk ND fan for spraying beer all over a U of U fan?
So despite all the negatives, I felt immense pride, to take part in a ND game. I loved holding my hand over my heart as I sang our National Anthem while 4 jets flew right over the stadium. I loved watching Utah getting CREAMED (28 to 3). I loved the long walk home listening to the bells toll, and seeing in the distance the statue of Jesus on the cross lit up by lights. I love the spirit I feel here on campus. What can I say more? I am so grateful I get to be here at Notre Dame.
