So I was traumatized yesterday. Allow me to tell you about my day.
I woke up hungry and excited about a bowl of cereal (I love cereal, something that baffles my spouse). I poured myself a nice big bowl of Honeycomb and THIS fell into my bowl
It's called Silverfish bug. And it was living in my cereal box.
After I shook off the hibby jibbies and ate some yogurt instead, I cleaned up the house in preparation for the boys to come home. They had been camping at the stake father and son campout the previous night. When Lohn got home with the boys, he told me he pulled several ticks off the boys and asked me to check them over. And I found THIS burrowed into my last born.
And it was incredibly stubborn to pull out. I found one more amongst the camping items they brought home. I promptly vacuumed the house and washed every item they were wearing. I will have to watch the bug bite site for infection ( and in case it turns into Lymes disease)
After I got the boys cleaned up, and happily installed in front of the Wii, I went to a church meeting. While I was there, humbly doing God's work, I felt one of THESE crawling on my ankle and foot.
I squealed and shook it off and stomped on it. Then I promptly drove to Home Depot to buy a spray for the inside and outside of the house, just to keep critters like these, and everything else I saw that day, OUT.
After I got home, Lohn went outside to do a bit of yard work and found THIS in our backyard.
Poison Ivy.
Yes, Virginia is a Harsh Mistress. And my skin is crawling.
(My next blog post will have to be about all the virtues of Virginia. I will keep my eyes open for them...)

Ba ha! Oh Sharon. You are so very funny. I had a day like that the other day, though not as bad. I spent an evening working in our garden plot and found two (TWO!) ticks without even looking. When I got home, I put all my clothes in a grocery bag and kept them in that hall until I was ready to do laundry. I took a shower and made Dallin thoroughly check my hair. Bleh. No likey.
Will you guys get cicadas too? I hope not for your sake. Virginia bugs are worse that Texas ones.
