Here is our first snow day (We got 2!) Both times the snow was gone within a day. This was taken a few weeks ago. It was 85 degrees today. Weird Virginia weather.
We went to the Metro Richmond Zoo. It is owned and operated by a Mormon family. It started out with just having a collection of animals on their yard, and it got bigger and bigger. And because we are Mormon, they gave us half off admission for the year for our family, and unlimited rides on the tram, train and carousel. Yes I went on the tram. And yes my hands were white and stiff when I finally pried them loose off the bar when we were done. I'm happy it didn't fall and we didn't die. The train ride was cool too, lots of great info. I have to say this is the best Zoo we have ever been to. And we have been to a lot of zoos. But NONE of them let you feed giraffes. Look at that tongue!
They even let us pet them.
For a dollar, we purchased popsicle sticks with the end covered in bird seed. Then we took the kids into the aviary and the birds landed on the sticks to eat the seeds. I'm not sure why Tamsyn is making this face. She loved it.
Two at once.
Gunnar cried when we left the aviary. I could only console him by telling him that we would take Grandma and Grandpa when they come. I feel bad though, because he misunderstood me and thought they were coming the next day and he was disappointed when I told him it would be in a month.
Sylas just wanted to pet them. Not much luck getting them too close to him. The birds must have a radar for 3 year olds.
It was a bit of money, (sorry Dave Ramsey, we have to have fun too) but we will be going often to make use of our years membership. Best. Zoo. Ever.

Sounds like fun, and yes I'm a little envious of your 85 degree weather. Miss your kids :)
And by the way, in regards to your question about Everests hand in that picture, I think he just has his fingers sticking into the holes in the mesh and its a weird perspective from the camera.
