Conference

I always watch Conference, and usually I enjoy it, but I think it shows how spiritually starved I've been (ahem, nursery calling here) when I say I LOVED conference this weekend. I SOAKED it up! There were two distinct times I felt the spirit talking to me. I will only share one.

I had the opportunity to take an investigator to the church house this morning to watch the first session of conference. She is the sweetest little old lady I've ever met (that is until I realized she is a raging racist, but thats another story). She has no transportation and was telling me she has no way to get to church. I considered offering to pick her up every Sunday, but disregarded it when I considered the extra time and gas it would cost us. But the talk by Elder Uchdorf (spelling???) spoke right to my heart. He talked of service, and how the Lord needs followers he can rely on. How our own trials can be eased/answered by service to our fellowmen. I knew during his talk that the Lord cares about this little (bigoted) woman, loves her very much and he expects me to help her. So I offered my services afterwards to drive her to church every Sunday, and she happily accepted, and I consequently felt the Lord approved of me at that moment. Lets just hope the Gospel changes her heart towards those with a different color of skin.

I also thought it was super cool when Bishop Burton talked about my own children's Great great great great (Not really sure how many greats) Grandpa Robert Taylor Burton. He's one of our heros. So what did you think of conference? Any stories that you would like to share with the blogging world?

I loved Elder Uchdorf's talk too! So is it bad that I was working simultaneously on a class assignment in another window and then after listening to him for a while, brought the conference window to the front and gasped at how distinguished and handsome-looking he is?

The weekend before conference was the Young Woman's devotional. One thing from the wonderful talks that evening was discussing what it means to be Benevolent. This same theme radiated to me throughout conference, so Sharon, you and I are on the same page. I want to offer more service and be more of an instrument unto our Lord.
